Amazon Kindle 2 is Available

The highly anticipated Amazon Kindle 2 e-book reader is now in stock at the online store, a day ahead of its earlier expected release date. This second generation device is thinner (0.36in), has a 20 percent faster e-paper screen and improved battery life. Storage capacity for the Kindle 2 is a 2GB internal flash memory. While a new feature is the Kindle 2’s text-to-speech capability, it can read out books to user via its built-in stereo speakers. There is a 3.5mm headphone jack lets users listen to their e-books in private or loud environments.

Similar to the original device, users can download (purchased) content via a no-charge EVDO data network connection from Sprint. A USB port is also implemented in the device for synchronizing with Macs and Windows-based PCs.
