RIM Launches Blackberry App World Applications Store

Apple’s App store now has competition as Research in Motion (RIM) has launched the BlackBerry App World application store, accessible via BlackBerry handsets. Users with the v4.2 operating system can download free and paid Apps made for their specific BlackBerry model. The store already offers instant messaging apps for AIM, Windows Live, Yahoo and ICQ, Apps for the social networking sites Facebook and MySpace, and business apps like the HRS Hotel Organizer and Salesforce CRM Mobile. A unique feature is the App World’s uses a front-page carousel to showcase featured Apps and will be updated weekly to help you discover new titles available. All downloaded software is stored in a “My World folder” that keeps track of Apps and allows quick updates or removals.
